finding it hard to juggle motherhood and work when she is called in to
investigate human bones that have surfaced on a remote Norfolk beach.
The presence of DCI Harry Nelson, the married father of her daughter,
does not help. The bones, six men with their arms bound, turn out to
date back to World War II, a desperate time on this stretch of
coastland. <br /><br />As Ruth and Nelson investigate, Home Guard veteran
Archie Whitcliffe reveals the existence of a secret the old soldiers
have vowed to protect with their lives. But then Archie is killed and a

found herself entangled in a missing persons case, barely escaping with
her life. But when construction workers demolishing a large old house in
Norwich uncover the bones of a child beneath a doorway—minus its
skull—Ruth is once again called upon to investigate. Is it a Roman-era
ritual sacrifice, or is the killer closer at hand?</span></p><p><span>Ruth
and Detective Harry Nelson would like to find out—and fast. When they
realize the house was once a children’s home, they track down the
Catholic priest who served as its operator. Father Hennessey reports
that two children did go missing from the home forty years before—a boy
and a girl. They were never found. When carbon dating proves that the
child’s bones predate the home and relate to a time when the house was
privately owned, Ruth is drawn ever more deeply into the case. But as

I've been busy working a quilt for my niece. I finally got the quilt top done, now to sandwich it. </p><p>While not working on a quilt, I read. I just finished the 3rd book in the Dr. Ruth Galloway series...The House at Sea's End. This is a really good book...full of secrets and mysteries to be solved. If your worried the series is to scary...it isn't. A lot of the book is about murder and the people trying to solve the murders. So I decided to post today for <a href="https://samannelizabeth.wordpress.com/tag/www-wednesday/">WWW Wednesday. </a>Just do this...</p><p style="color: #7a7a7a;"><strong>What are you currently reading? finding it hard to juggle motherhood and work when she is called in to
investigate human bones that have surfaced on a remote Norfolk beach.
The presence of DCI Harry Nelson, the married father of her daughter,
does not help. The bones, six men with their arms bound, turn out to
date back to World War II, a desperate time on this stretch of coast land. <br /><br />As Ruth and Nelson investigate, Home Guard veteran
Archie Whitcliffe reveals the existence of a secret the old soldiers
have vowed to protect with their lives. But then Archie is killed and a
German journalist arrives, asking questions about Operation Lucifer, a
plan to stop a German invasion, and a possible British war crime. What
was Operation Lucifer? And who is prepared to kill to keep its secret?</span></p><p><span> </span></p>Sherriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05066594863146323403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5588103452367838338.post-43302296196483018752022-06-20T12:02:00.004-07:002022-06-20T13:17:16.044-07:00WHAT I'M READING......<div aria-expanded="true" class="a-expander-content a-expander-partial-collapse-content a-expander-content-expanded" style="padding-bottom: 20px;"><p><a href="https://thebookdate.wordpress.com/">It's Monday, What Are You Reading?</a></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids
who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up
before you’re ready are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as
Greg records them in his diary. <br /><br />In book one of this debut

I finished the first 2 books of Diary of a Whimpy Kid.</p><p><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Diary-Wimpy-Kid-Book-ebook/dp/B005CRQ4OW/ref=sr_1_1?crid=23741CL4MDUJS&keywords=diary+a+wimpy+kid+book+1&qid=1655152908&sprefix=diary+a+whimpy+kid+book+1%2Caps%2C118&sr=8-1">Diary of a Whimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney - Book 1</a></p><p>Synopsis <br /></p><p><span>It’s a new school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into
middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids
who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up
before you’re ready are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as
Greg records them in his diary. <br /><br />In book one of this debut
series, Greg is happy to have Rowley, his sidekick, along for the ride.
But when Rowley’s star starts to rise, Greg tries to use his best
friend’s newfound popularity to his own advantage, kicking off a chain
of events that will test their friendship in hilarious fashion. <br /><br />Author/illustrator
Jeff Kinney recalls the growing pains of school life and introduces a
new kind of hero who epitomizes the challenges of being a kid. As Greg
says in his diary, “Just don’t expect me to be all ‘Dear Diary’ this and
‘Dear Diary’ that.†? Luckily for us, what Greg Heffley says he won’t do
and what he actually does are two very different things. </span></p><p><span>MY THOUGHTS:</span></p><p><span>I really liked this book. Full of secrets to tell and not tell. She lives happily alone with her two cats in a bleak, remote area near
Norfolk, land that was sacred to its Iron Age inhabitants—not quite
earth, not quite sea. But her routine days of digging up bones and other
ancient objects are harshly upended when a child’s bones are found on a
desolate beach. Detective Chief Inspector Nelson calls Galloway for
help, believing they are the remains of Lucy Downey, a little girl who
went missing a decade ago and whose abductor continues to taunt him with
bizarre letters containing references to ritual sacrifice, Shakespeare,
and the Bible. Then a second girl goes missing and Nelson receives a
new letter—exactly like the ones about Lucy.</span></p><p><span>My Thoughts</span></p><p><span>Really good book. It has romance and lots of mystery. Gallagher grew up enchanted by her grandfather’s stories of Ireland.
Heartbroken at his death, she travels to his childhood home to spread
his ashes. There, overcome with memories of the man she adored and
consumed by a history she never knew, she is pulled into another time.</span></p><p><span>The
Ireland of 1921, teetering on the edge of war, is a dangerous place in
which to awaken. But there Anne finds herself, hurt, disoriented, and
under the care of Dr. Thomas Smith, guardian to a young boy who is oddly
familiar. Mistaken for the boy’s long-missing mother, Anne adopts her
identity, convinced the woman’s disappearance is connected to her own.</span></p><p><span>As
tensions rise, Thomas joins the struggle for Ireland’s independence and
Anne is drawn into the conflict beside him. Caught between history and
her heart, she must decide whether she’s willing to let go of the life
she knew for a love she never thought she’d find. But in the end, is the
choice actually hers to make?</span></p><p><span>I ordered this book from Amazon last year. Just got in the mood last month to start this book. From his floating
bookstore in a barge on the Seine, he prescribes novels for the
hardships of life. Using his intuitive feel for the exact book a reader
needs, Perdu mends broken hearts and souls. The only person he can't
seem to heal through literature is himself; he's still haunted by
heartbreak after his great love disappeared. She left him with only a
letter, which he has never opened.<br /><br /> After Perdu is finally
tempted to read the letter, he hauls anchor and departs on a mission to
the south of France, hoping to make peace with his loss and discover the
end of the story. Joined by a bestselling but blocked author and a
lovelorn Italian chef, Perdu travels along the country’s rivers,
dispensing his wisdom and his books, showing that the literary world can
take the human soul on a journey to heal itself.</p><p>My Thoughts</p><p>I really enjoyed reading this book. It had enough characters and story line to keep me reading. suggestion: They can raise silkworms, as she did when she was a girl in

Synopsis<br />
The suicide of Madeleine Heron’s husband leaves her at her sister’s lake
house for the summer, until she can ‘sort things out’ for herself and
find a new direction, but life in the lake community is anything but
conducive to calm. Right away a three year old girl goes missing from
the dam, Madeleine is nearly assaulted when her truck breaks down, and
she discovers her neighbors have an affinity for digging holes and
burying things in their yard, usually things they find floating in the
lake, like a hand, or an arm… Native American conservation officer Eris
Renard appears to be the only sane person around, and without warning
Madeleine finds herself falling for him, but he’s an adopted Indian
who’s just found his birth mother, a famous artist who hates Madeleine.<br />
<br />

Synopsis<br />
<br />
A family of four is slaughtered in rural Tennessee.<br />
Two weeks later, a retired high school principal and his wife are brutally slain.<br />
Two Satan-worshipping teens stand accused.<br />
It's
up to prosecutor Joe Dillard to convict them. A former defense attorney
who spent way too much time defending people he knew were guilty, Joe
is determined to win this case to atone for his past. But an evil young
woman named Natasha is responsible for the slayings and Joe knows it.
Natasha is walking around free because the two boys who have been
arrested are too terrified to implicate her. Now Joe must risk
everything -- including his family's safety and his own life -- to bring
an evil murderer to justice.(<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Good-Faith-Joe-Dillard-Book-ebook/dp/B00A1AXDIA/ref=sr_1_3?crid=MP0N181EO43E&dchild=1&keywords=in+good+faith+by+scott+pratt&qid=1588783677&sprefix=in+good+%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-3">Amazon.com</a>)<br />

MY THOUGHTS<br />
<br />
This is the 2nd book in this series. Really liked this book a lot. Full of mysteries, plus you get a look into the character, Joe Dillard's life. In this book Joe's wife is fighting cancer. So on top of trying to catch and convict these people, Joe is worrying about his wife. Does Joe bring the people to justice? Read the book and find out.<br />
