MY THOUGHTS: This is my book clubs choice for December. I was a little skeptical about this book. I didn't think I would like it, but once I started reading it, I got hooked and couldn't put it down. The teacher is asked to talk to prisoner awaiting death. The prisoner's grandmother asks him to make him take this like a man, to stand like a man. But the teacher has no idea how to do this. So he starts taking to him.....trying to get him to talk back...the teacher buys the prisoner a radio to listen to....the teacher also gets the prisoner a notebook and pencil for him to write his feelings down. The prisoner starts talking to the teacher......they come to an understanding. This book is very moving, I really enjoyed reading it. I give this book 5.....
This book is for 1 of my book challenges.....
